A renewable energy installation for a Kent residential client. Flare was engaged to design a tailored solar array that would maximise the available roof space across the primary residence and detached garage.
The goal was clear: generate as much clean energy as possible, store the excess and reduce the homeowner's dependence on grid electricity.
Project Scope
- GSE in-roof mounting system — installed during the felt and batten stage for a seamless, flush finish that integrates with the roof line rather than sitting on top of it.
- 32x JA Solar 445W modules with Enphase Energy IQ8 microinverters — microinverters on each panel maximise output by ensuring one underperforming panel doesn't drag down the rest of the array.
- Envoy S communication gateway — providing real-time monitoring of every panel's performance through the Enphase app.
- Tesla Powerwall 3 and Gateway — battery storage captures excess solar generation for use in the evening and during outages, with the Gateway enabling whole-home backup.
- Testing, commissioning, MCS certification and DNO notification — ensuring the system is fully compliant, registered and ready for Smart Export Guarantee payments.
Safety and Quality
Safety remains at the heart of our operations, with scaffold, edge protection and controlled loading in place throughout.
Working across two roof areas at different heights required rigorous safety planning. Full scaffold and edge protection were erected before any roof work began, and controlled loading procedures ensured materials were positioned safely at all times.
The Result
The integrated system delivers clean energy generation and storage while reducing both costs and environmental impact. With 32 high-output panels and a Tesla Powerwall 3, the homeowner now generates the majority of their electricity, stores excess for evening use and exports surplus to the grid for additional income.
This is what a modern residential energy system looks like: solar generation, intelligent storage and real-time monitoring, all designed and installed as a single, cohesive system.
